The University of Gharyan has formed a Sustainability Committee and work is currently underway to complete its institutional framework and organize its tasks and operational structure. Although the committee is still in its founding stage, the university's activities indicate a clear commitment to environmental and sustainable development issues, whether through events, partnerships, or proposed policies.

Key Features of the Sustainability Committee's Activities:

Environmental and Awareness Activities:

Organizing a World Environment Day event (June 2024), which included presentations and lectures on desertification and climate change.

Participating in the National Water Conference and organizing workshops on food and water quality.

Community Partnerships:

Collaboration with the Environmental Sanitation Directorate in Gharyan and civil society organizations such as "Tamkeen" and "Al Raqeeb" on local environmental projects.

Education and Academic Integration:

Integrating sustainability topics into university training programs and workshops, especially in the faculties of Science, Engineering, and Law.

Organizational Structure:

A multidisciplinary committee comprising representatives from the faculties of Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Law, and Administration.

Joint coordination with the university's Quality Department and Environmental Sanitation Unit.

Working Mechanisms:

Organizing tree-planting campaigns, environmental days, and voluntary initiatives.

Conducting courses and workshops on energy, water, and waste.

Preparing quarterly reports on environmental performance indicators (e.g., consumption efficiency, tree planting, water quality...).

Monitoring Environmental Behavior:

Establishing a channel for reporting incorrect environmental practices or environmental misinformation.
